Program participants must take out travel insurance to cover possible accidents, injuries, illnesses or other incidents irrespective of their period of stay. Chulalongkorn University, The University of Hong Kong and Hokkaido University is not responsible for any unforeseen contingencies in which they may be involved. As such, they must follow the necessary procedures prior to departure from their country. Their insurance must cover death and medical care expenses due to sickness as well as accidental injury. Personal liability must also be covered by insurance in the event of an accident that results in injury or property damage for which they will be held legally responsible.

For The University of Hong Kong:

What is the COVID-19 guidance at HKUSI?

HKU has now resumed normal operations, subject only to Covid regulations mandated by the HKSAR Government (https://www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/index.html). This means we no longer require a Vaccine Pass for campus access, and we no longer expect close contacts of Covid cases to stay away from work or study.

* Starting from 30 January 2023, the Government will no longer issue isolation orders to infected persons. Students requiring sick leave may apply for leave of absence if necessary.

At the same time, we’ll be requiring everyone to comply with our standard health protocols in all classes, whether lectures, tutorials, labs, studios or anything else – no eating or drinking at all.

For Hokkaido University:

As of March 2023, HU places the student who tests positive for COVID-19 on a university-mandated leave of absence. Students will not be disadvantaged in any way when being placed on a university-mandated leave of absence. 

• Current Japanese border measures as of March 2023*

As of March 2023, the certificate issued in English by a government or public institution showing that a person has received 3 doses of vaccines designated is required to enter Japan. Online pre-registration for Quarantine, Immigration and customs procedures via “Visit Japan Web” is requested upon arrival. For details, please read the following sites:
